About us
EnglishWordy started with a simple idea: learning English shouldn’t feel like a punishment. Most of us grew up memorising grammar rules for exams and forgetting them the next day. We wanted to build something different — a place where you actually understand what you’re learning, and where you can come back to practice whenever you have five spare minutes.
This website is made for anyone who wants to get better at English, whether you’re a student preparing for exams, someone brushing up before a job interview, or a parent who wants a simple tool to help your kids with vocabulary at home.
Why We Started EnglishWordy
Most English learning websites either throw too much information at you at once, or they’re so basic they don’t actually help you improve. We wanted a middle ground: clear explanations, real examples, and tools you can use right away instead of just reading about.
We also noticed that a lot of English learners in Pakistan and other Urdu-speaking regions struggle to find resources that explain words and grammar in a way that connects to their own language. That’s part of why our Word Meanings dictionary lets you search in English, Roman Urdu, or Urdu script — because switching between languages while you learn is completely normal, and your tools should work the way your brain actually works.
What You Can Do on This Site
- Read grammar articles that break down confusing rules (like when to use “high school” vs “highschool,” or how the Magic E rule actually works) in plain language
- Practice with our Tenses Quiz, a 300-question quiz that walks you through all 12 English tenses one question at a time
- Look up word meanings in our English–Urdu dictionary, searchable by topic or by typing any word
- Use our calculators and tools, like the Weeks From Now calculator, built for everyday practical use alongside your learning
- Browse by topic so you can focus on exactly what you’re struggling with, instead of scrolling through everything
Who This Website Is For
EnglishWordy is for beginners just starting out, intermediate learners trying to sound more natural, students preparing for school or university exams, and anyone who simply wants a reliable place to check a word or a grammar rule without wading through ads and pop-ups.
You don’t need to sign up for anything or pay for access. Everything here is free to use, and it’s built to work on a phone just as well as it does on a computer, since we know most of our visitors are learning on the go.
Our Approach
We believe people learn best in small, consistent steps rather than long sessions once in a while. That’s where our tagline comes from — one word, one day, one dream at a time. You don’t need to master English overnight. You just need to keep showing up, and we’ll keep building tools that make that easier.
We also try to write like real people talk, not like a textbook. If an explanation feels dry or confusing, we’d genuinely like to know — this site grows based on what actually helps learners, not what looks impressive.
